10 Jun TEXAS DENTAL SURGERY BY DAWN BLUEMEL OLDFIELD
We all know the drill. We’ve been taught from an early age to brush our teeth morning and night, to floss daily and avoid sugary foods. We visit our dentist twice annually for check-ups and cleanings, yet sometimes things don’t go as planned and we’re advised to seek the care of a specialist. Thankfully, residents of Prosper and surrounding communities don’t need to seek quality care far from home. Texas Dental Surgery opened its practice in Prosper in 2017.
While it may sound a bit intimidating, dental surgery includes, but is not limited to, corrective procedures that involve treatment of the teeth, surrounding bone and soft tissue. Lori Morgan, RDA-Office Manager shares, “John-Michael Stewart DMD, and Stephen Walker, DDS, MS specialize in dental implants, oral surgery, and periodontics. This includes diseases, injuries, missing teeth, defect of the bone and soft tissue, including wisdom teeth extraction, reconstructive oral surgery, dental implants, biopsies, bone and tissue grafting and gum contouring. I strive to ensure that our patients, from youth to our seniors, undergo care exhibiting compassion, professionalism and trust with an overall supportive experience in a family environment.”
“Dr. Stewart is a specialist oral surgeon originally from Dallas, Texas. He attended SMU and was a place-kicker for the Mustangs football team. After college, he went to Boston University School of Dental Medicine, graduating Magna Cum Laude with his dental degree. His interest in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery led him back to Dallas with a goal to become a leading oral surgeon in the United States.
He completed specialty training at UT-Southwestern Medical Center and Parkland Memorial Hospital, and was certified as a legal practicing oral surgeon. Besides traditional oral surgery of extractions, he loves being part of a team that creates beautiful smiles,” Lori shares.
Lori adds, “Dr. Walker grew up in Dallas, Texas and received his Dental Surgery degree from Baylor College of Dentistry. He is a Diplomate of the American Academy of Periodontology. During his periodontal residency, he served as chief resident and conducted research analyzing the bone response to a new implant surface. This research was accepted for publication in the International Journal of Oral and Maxillofacial Implants. He looks forward to working with restorative dentists to provide patients with the best dental care possible.”
While still relatively new to Prosper, the team at Texas Dental Surgery is happily immersing themselves in the community. Lori says, “We continue to familiarize ourselves with the wonderful opportunities in the area. Prosper is such a great town! We believe in giving back to the community and support local schools, teams, food banks, Cornerstone, and various fundraisers.”
Lori concludes, “Our mission at Texas Dental Surgery is to provide every individual with the highest quality of care, utilizing the most advanced scientific technologies and treatment protocols in order to achieve the results our patients deserve. It is our passion to get to know every patient like family, understanding each individual has very specific medical needs, dental needs, and treatment expectations. Drs. Stewart, Walker, and staff are committed to helping patients understand their own unique dental treatment needs and to providing solutions that will not only improve their oral function, but overall well-being.
