Love That Door – Hand Forged Wrought Iron BY TAMMY ADAMS PHOTOGRAPHY BY MARY RICHARD

Thanks to the wildly successful Disney movie Frozen, everyone knows that “Love is an open door.” Perhaps no one knows it better than Mika Crenshaw and her husband, owners of Love That Door, a wildly successful custom iron door company that the two walked through a few years ago.

“I have been around and worked in remodeling for my entire life,” said Mika. “My dad owned a remodeling company and, when I got married, my husband and I bought it from him.” The two were on a remodeling job in Southlake when the homeowner said she would love to have a beautiful iron door. Without any hesitation, Mika’s husband replied, “I can do that.”

“As an artist, what he designed and created was so beautiful that in no time, we were installing custom iron doors on every street in that neighborhood,” said Mika. “That is how Love That Door was birthed.”

Requests began pouring in and, what they originally envisioned as a wholesale business, quickly turned into a business where  they  work  directly  with  individual clients to make custom entry doors, privacy gates, railings, doors for wine cellars and more. “Construction is a great business, but what we really love to do is create some- thing personal and beautiful for each client,” she said. “I think because we have kept our original wholesale pricing structure, even though we now deal directly with individual clients, we are able to give them something unique, personal and beautiful but that is also affordable”

This winning combination has catapulted Love That Door to the forefront of the industry. With two spacious showrooms in Frisco and Dallas, the company continues to grow but never loses sight of its original purpose of creating something beautiful with love. “When we are finished at your home, we want to have left our fingerprint in your home and in your heart,” said Mika. “Our team is phenomenal. They are just amazing people with servants’ hearts. From our salesmen [Mika’s father among them]to our installers [no subcontractors], to the ladies in our front office and showrooms, you will never meet a finer group of people.” Love That Door is experiencing such tremendous growth, the Crenshaws have opened a third showroom in historic downtown Grapevine in November! “The space is just perfect,” she said.

Mika gets emotional when talking about their family business and what she and her husband have accomplished with the help of their dedicated team. “If I could say anything to other women wanting to go into business for themselves, it would be ‘Never give up hope. If there is something you really believe in, keep working at it. Don’t lose hope. You must have a pit bull mentality. Lock your jaws and just hold on. Keep marching—sometimes you might just be crawling and sometimes you’ll be sprinting to keep up, but don’t ever stop.’”
