Landon Publishing grew out of an advertising business called Front Door Advertising, Inc. which opened its doors in 2002. The original company based its business model on selling advertising/coupons that could be printed on door hangers, and these hangers were delivered to approximately 70,000 homes each month.
After a number of years, owner Steve Butler decided to pursue a new venture – magazines. His idea was born out of a growing need for businesses to reach their small town markets in a more elegant and professional way. He also felt that a magazine could offer brand awareness and name recognition that couldn’t be created using his coupon-based advertising structure.
After securing a number of professional writers, editors and photographers, the inaugural edition of Forney Living Magazine was published in March of 2008. It was an immediate success! With a strong momentum and a steadily growing readership, the company quickly introduced an online version of its magazine in 2009.
Front Door Advertising, Inc. and its door hanger model was sold in February of 2010, and in its place came a new company called Landon Publishing. The company was created to expand the Forney Living model into two new publications: Little Elm Living Magazine (first published in August of 2011) and Prosper Living Magazine (first published in April of 2013). Today, Landon Publishing’s three sister publications contribute to the success of over 115 customers every day. Its magazines are mailed six times per year to 11,500 homes in each area of (Forney, Sunnyvale, Heath), ( Little Elm, Oak Point, Aubrey) and ( Prosper, Celina, Northwest McKinney).
Every issue of all three magazines include human interest stories, family articles, a Christian based article, and an Around Town section with pictures of local kids and events. Our model is based on approximately 40 percent articles and 60 percent advertising, which works well for both the businesses we work with and for the homeowners who enjoy reading our publications.
At Landon Publishing there is nothing we enjoy more than talking to customers, designing an advertising campaign that works, and seeing businesses grow. We are very selective in the types of articles we print in our magazines, as we recognize that our success is a direct reflection of our customer’s success. Our goal is to create a magazine that every homeowner will find interesting, with articles and feature stories that are relevant to their unique community.
